Denture Rebases

Denture Services Available in Tacoma, WA and Puyallup, WA

A worn denture base causes a variety of dental concerns, including poor-fitting dentures, but that doesn’t mean you need to replace your dentures entirely. If your denture teeth are still in excellent condition, the denture experts at Berlanga Dentures in Tacoma and Puyallup, Washington, will often recommend a rebase. Rebase is the process of taking a new impression of your current tissue and replacing the entire acrylic denture base using your existing teeth. For more information, call Berlanga Dentures or book an appointment online today.

Denture Rebase Q & A
What is denture rebasing?
Denture rebasing is the process of taking a new impression of your current tissue and replacing the entire acrylic denture base using your existing teeth. Rebasing is most often recommended when the base material of your denture is worn or ill-fitting, but your teeth are in good condition.

What is the difference between denture relining and rebasing?
Denture relining is a less extensive procedure than rebasing. Relining only reshapes the small grooves and indentations of your denture base for a more comfortable and snug fit, while rebasing replaces the entire base of your dentures.

Why would I need a denture rebase?
There are many reasons your Berlanga Dentures expert recommends a denture rebase, such as:
  • Old denture base
  • Noticeably worn denture base
  • Cracked or broken denture base
If you have an accident and crack or break your dentures, it’s important to come to your nearest Berlanga Dentures location right away. The sooner your dentures are repaired, the easier it is to keep your teeth intact.

How is denture rebasing done?
Rebasing your dentures requires completely replacing the acrylic base of your dentures without changing the teeth. This provides a stable, comfortable base for your dentures.

New impressions are then taken of your mouth to create a new fit for your dentures. These new impressions mold to the changing grooves and indentations of your tissue. The denture professionals at Berlanga Dentures create your new denture base in their state-of-the-art lab using your updated impressions. This provides the most comfortable and accurate fit for your dentures.

Poor-fitting dentures are dangerous to your overall oral health. When your dentures don’t fit perfectly, they leave small pockets and spaces for bacteria and plaque to become trapped. This ultimately leads to a number of serious dental problems, including gum disease.

To ensure your mouth remains as healthy as possible, call Berlanga Dentures or book an appointment online today for more information on denture rebasing.

Dentures may replace all or only some of the teeth. The dentures that replace all the teeth are known as complete dentures and they rest on the tissue that covers the jawbones. The stability and retention of these dentures can be improved by attaching them to dental implants. Dentures that replace some but not all the teeth are known as partial dentures. They attach to the teeth that are still present, and cover and rest on the tissue and bone where the teeth are missing. Dental implants can also be used to restore and stabilize partial dentures as well.
